Slowing Down This Holiday Season
With all the holiday hustle and bustle (that starts earlier and earlier every year), there’s nothing more important than taking time for yourself. One way to treat yourself? One great glass of wine. Join us for a moment as we focus on mindfulness and slowing down this holiday season.
Be thankful for me time
It can be hard to unwind—let alone unplug—nowadays. There’s always something to do, somewhere to be, someone to talk to… and we often do so at the expense of ourselves. So much of our time is spent going, going, going, with so little time being spent for R&R. The lack of time spent recharging is what spends our battery and leads to burnout, so be sure to take time to unwind. Reward yourself with one great glass of your favorite wine as you take that me time. .
Is the weather outside frightful? The fire (+ some wine) would be soooo delightful.
Cold, rainy, treacherous? Let yourself say “yes” to staying home and staying in if the elements just aren’t cooperating. Nothing—and we mean nothing—is cozier than a day (or evening) dedicated to cuddling up on the couch with a good book or a favorite movie/show with the fire roaring (or candles flickering). Add some wine, or perhaps a cocoa or tea, and you’ve set yourself up for the best vibes.
Nothing wrong with a party of one
With all the parties, gift exchanges, costume parties, trick (or trunk) or treating, Friendsgiving (and Thanksgiving) gatherings, dinners, office events, New Year’s celebrations, birthdays, weddings, bridal parties, bachelorettes, and family vacations, you’ve got to decide when enough is enough and when you need a weekend—or just a day,, afternoon, night—solo. There is nothing wrong with canceling or rescheduling where necessary either, there are some days when you just can’t socialize, and that’s okay. We all have moments where we’re exhausted, overstimulated, and double booked. It’s important to listen to your mind and your body and know when it’s best to just stay in. Party of one? We’ve got the perfectly sized f(l)avor!
‘Tis the season for binge-watching without reason
Spook-tacular scary flicks, the latest and greatest Hallmark movies, tried and true timeless classics (looking at you, The Holiday), time-bound must-watches (ahem, New Year’s Eve), and unique family traditions (Krampus, anyone?) have earned their rightful place on your screens of choice this season. Whether you’re settling in for a themed movie marathon, catching up on the latest streaming releases, or dialing in for your personal annual rewatch, what better way to sit back and relax than with your favorite wine.
Tips to make the holiday season meaningful with mindfulness
1. Set Boundaries with Your Calendar
Plan dedicated "you" days with no commitments. Block off specific times for family gatherings and personal relaxation, giving yourself ample space to recharge.
2. Create a Priority List
List the few activities that matter most to you. Instead of trying to do everything, focus on traditions and experiences that feel the most fulfilling.
3. Practice Mindful Gifting
Consider opting for fewer, more meaningful gifts rather than stressing over quantity. Explore ideas like personalized gifts, experiences, or even homemade items, which can add a thoughtful touch. For a gift that keeps on giving for the wine lover in your life, consider our Wine Club subscription! Choose your giftee’s favorite wines and preferred delivery frequency. Just like that, you’ve got gifting in the bag.
4. Incorporate Moments of Stillness
Whether it’s a few minutes of deep breathing, a daily morning coffee ritual, and evening wind-down with wine, or even a quick walk, build in quiet moments to connect with yourself and find calm in your day.
5. Limit Social Media
Reducing screen time can help you stay grounded and fully engaged with loved ones. Try setting specific times to check updates, then put your phone aside to stay present.
6. Savor Simple Traditions
Focus on small joys, like baking with family, watching a classic holiday movie, sipping on some wonderful wine, or enjoying a cozy evening by the fire. These slower-paced moments can create lasting memories without added stress.
7. Delegate and Share Responsibilities
Don’t hesitate to ask for help. Invite family or friends to assist with meal prep, decorating, or other holiday tasks. Sharing responsibilities makes everything feel more manageable and enjoyable.
8. Focus on Gratitude
Take a moment each day to reflect on things you’re grateful for. Practicing gratitude can keep you centered, helping you to focus on what truly matters during the season.
